Training has to be:

Although being challenging is a desirable state, over-challenging training could undermine the enjoyment of being challenged.

Always plan rest times into your single training sessions and rest periods into long-term training plans.

Rest times are of inestimable value. They help your body recover and therefore enjoy training in the future.

Planned.


Without planning you will be only exercising. Training has to be thought through and well planned. Following step by step guidelines will get you closer to your goal.

Planning and analyzing helps understand what you should concentrate on, address your weaknesses and make a plan on how to eliminate them.


Consistent.


No matter what you do, if you do not stick to the plan, you will have no chance to see the progress. Period!


Progressive.


As exercises are getting easier, you are not breathless anymore, you are in control over every movement - you can start progressing. Increase the amount of reps/sets, add weights, or do both.
